Identification Showcases

ID Showcases are one day events open to all softball athletes interested in furthering their softball careers. At the Showcase, athletes are put through a complete physical work-out (running, throwing, fielding, hitting).   This event is designed to allow college coaches to better assess the overall ability of an athlete in a one on one workout.


Players need to be full uniform for this event

Work-out (40-Yd Dash, IF/OF Skills, Catcher Pop Time, H-1B Time, and a Live Batting Practice off Live Pitching)

Showcase Agenda- Player information sheet

Thursday August 6, 2009-Cargill Park

  •  Sign in- BOBBY HAIR-- 9:15am-Coach Grant/Johnston- get their name and give them their number tags to wear- front and back- be there be 9:30am at the latest please- get cleats on and begin to stretch on your own

  •   Warm up- speed agility drills- 9:40am- Field 5 with Coach Doyle

 10:00am- field (1)- Hitting with Coach Doyle/Coach Johnston- get in line from the lowest number to highest-each batter will get 10 balls to hit off of each coach=(20) total swings- if you do not like the pitch- take it- swing at strikes

Rotate to Field (5) and finish off with five live cuts off of pitcher- each camper will get 25 swings- you can slap/bunt –whatever you want to do- they are your at bats

 10:30am- Defensive position play-warm up arms for defense on field 1

Players will get reps of grounders and fly balls- players will be throwing to different bags and just overall defensive work

 §  Ages 14-15 will be on field (1) with Coach Doyle/Coach Grant and workers

 §  Ages 16-17 will be on field (5) with Coach Grisham/Coach Johnston and workers

 11:10am- Everyone but pitchers Speed timed home to 1b and home to 2b-Field (1)

Pitchers: At this time all pitchers need to be getting warm and ready to pitch at this time- go to field (5) and start warming up- you will have about 15 minutes or so to get ready so don’t waste time

 Catchers- as soon as you get timed- go on the sidelines and get arms warm for throw downs

 11:30-12:15- Pitcher/Catcher work field (5)

We are letting pitchers throw 1 at a time- you will throw the top 4 to 5 pitches you have two times each- call out the pitch prior to throwing it- make sure you speak up so coaches can hear-

  •  Pitchers: will be on field (5)- If you have your own catcher that is fine, however we will provide one as well if you don’t have a catcher. 

     Pitchers: After you finish your pitching wait till the others are finished and you will be timed home to 1b and home to 2b- field (5) just stretch your legs out and be ready to sprint
     

  • Catchers: will be on field (1) with Coach Doyle and Coach Grant- you will get 3 blocks- 3 pickoffs- 5 throw downs to 2b(2 will be timed) and you will get to come out the box and field 2 bunts and go to 1b with throw-after you –

 Showcase may run 10 minutes off on any of these sessions but we will assure you to get your work in so the coaches can see your skills- we will be finished any time from 12:15pm-12:30pm give or take ten minutes
